Major Airport Terminal Expansion Planned by CAP - minor impact on airport tariffs

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) has received final approval from its Board of Directors to move forward with the airport expansion project. The airport expansion project is approximately two (2) years ahead of schedule, and the planned improvements are substantially more extensive than is required by the concession agreement between the Government of Curaçao and Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP).

The planned expansion by CAP will increase the capacity of the airport to at least 2.5M passengers, and will efficiently accommodate the anticipated demand by the airlines for new air service capacity. The new expansion will also effectively double the terminal’s passenger hold-room, add a new jet bridge that is capable of accommodating the largest commercial aircraft (A380 class), it will also provide a new Arrivals Corridor to improve passenger flow and reduce aircraft turn-time to improve connectivity. Expansion plans will also increase commercial space to allow for new and expanded customer amenities and create new retail and food/beverage opportunities.

On another positive note, CAP also will propose to the Government to maintain the airport tariffs at essentially the current level for the next three (3) years because of the company’s confidence in the continued growth of the Curaçao air travel market, and also to stimulate further interest in Curaçao as a cost-competitive regional destination. The airport tariffs are the primary revenue source that allows CAP to recover the costs of operating, managing and developing the airport. Airport Tariffs proposed by CAP are presented in the table below.
